Stem Cell Genomics Project

The goal of the Stem Cell Genomics Project (SCGP) is the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms that regulate the formation, self-renewal, and differentiation of stem cells. Affymetrix GeneChip technology, SAGE, and LC MS/MS proteome analysis are being employed to analyze over 1000 preparations of human and mouse embryonic and adult stem cells. A bioinformatics team is facilitating integration and dissemination of this data. StemBase is the major deliverable for this project, which provides a compilation of all of the stem cell expression data obtained during the project.

Sample submission

Although the funding for the "wet lab" portion of the Stem Cell Genomics Project has come to an end, we are continuing to accept RNA samples for the following stem cells and their differentiated derivatives:

“Most Wanted” samples:

Endodermal (mouse and human)

- Gut

- Liver

- Lungs

- Pancreas

Ectodermal (human)

- Skin

- Nervous System

Mesodermal (mouse and human)

- Cardiac

For each sample, please fill out the Sample Information for Microarray Analysis Form, and submit it in accordance the instructions for sample preparation and shipping. Please note that for each sample intended for the for the Stem Cell Genomics Project, biological triplicates are required, with a single RNA isolation from each triplicate. A separate project request form must be submitted for each set of biological triplicates to be analyzed.

Your data will be e-mailed to you as soon as possible.

Prices

Samples that become part of the SCGP are processed at a significant discount Price List A  You will receive this deep discount for your samples if all of these conditions are met:

1. The samples are on the "Most Wanted" samples list (above)

2. You are willing to deposit the resulting data in StemBase in accordance with the StemBase embargo policy

3. You are willing to apply the GeneChips on Price List A.

Note that the data will be returned to you as well as entered into StemBase.

If all three of these conditions cannot be met your samples will be processed according to the Affymetrix Genechip Facility Fee Schedule
