Agilent Bioanalyzer

Sample Submission Form

Overview:

Currently, the StemCore Lab Facility offers Agilent Bioanalyzer Lab-on-a-Chip Technology for nucleic acid and protein analysis. This technology uses microfluidics combined with electrophoresis for sizing, quantification and qualify control of DNA, RNA and protein. These assays provide rapid, complete and reproducible digital data with minimal sample consumption.

Equipment:

  • Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer

Services Provided:

RNA Solutions

  • RNA 600 Nano chip: For analysis and quantitation of mRNA in the low to mid nanogram range.
  • 6000 Pico chip: For analysis and quantitation of mRNA and total RNA in the mid picogram range.
  • RNA Integrity Number (RIN) calculation: The RNA integrity number is a numerical assessment of the integrity of total eukaroyte RNA samples based on the entire electrophoretic trace of the RNA sample rather than the ratio of the ribosomal bands. This includes the presence or absence of degradation products and enables direct comparison of RNA samples and ensures repeatability of experiments. More information can be found at www.agilent.com.

DNA Solutions

  • DNA 100 Labchip: For high resolution sizing and quantitation of dsDNA fragments from 25 to 1000 bp.
  • High Sensivity DNA:

Protein Solutions

  • Protein 200 Plus Labchip: for rapid sizing and analysis of proteins from 14 to 200 kDa.

Technical specifications regarding the full Agilent Lab-on-a-chip product line can be found at www.agilent.com.

Process:

  • Samples from local researchers should be dropped off at the StemCore lab Facility Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM along with a fully completed Request Form. Please ensure that the label on the tube exactly matches the sample name given on the request form.

  • Samples from external sources should be shipped to the below mailing address via Federal Express or Purolater to the attention of Caroline Vergette. In advance of shipment please fax the completed request form to Caroline Vergette at (613) 739-6294. If your sample has been obtained from human subjects, please include a copy of the appropriate ethics review approval forms. RNA samples should be shipped on dry ice to the StemCore Laboratory. It is important to label the sample "Perishable". Please also include a copy of the previously faxed request form with the shipped samples.
  • Results can generally be obtained 2 days from date of submission and will be forwarded in a .pdf report by email.
  • All samples are processed on a first come first served basis.

Fees :

Bioanalyzer fees are $20 per sample.  This price is applicable to academic researchers only. Please inquire for large volume or commercial pricing.

Reaction Submission Format:

In order to minimize error and reduce turnaround time we will only accept samples that are provided in the following format:

  • Each sample should be provided in a 1.5 ml microfuge tube.
  • Please provide a separate aliquot of the sample if both Affymetrix microarray analysis and Agilent Bioanalyzer quality assessment.
  • The microfuge tube should clearly be labeled with black indelible ink with the sample name as well as the requestor's initials.
  • Please ensure that the name on the microfuge tube corresponds exactly to the name indicated on the request form.
